Customer Context Gadget: Create New Activity

Add a new activity to a customer record when:

  • An unrecorded activity has occurred. For example, the customer sent an email with a question and your application did not record the email activity.

  • You are initiating an action on behalf of the customer. For example, you are responding to a request from a previous customer interaction.

You can add a new activity to a customer record that was recently open. You can also search a customer by name and add an activity to the selected customer record.


Note


If another agent modifies the activity while you have it open, the Customer Context gadget displays an error when you attempt to save it. You can then choose to load the changes or to overwrite them.


 

Create a New Activity for a Recent Customer Record

  1. Click the customer name from the Recent customers list to view the Customer Record Preview.


    Note


    Click the toggle icon to access the Recent customers list.


  2. Click in the Customer Record Preview to edit this customer record.

    The customer record moves from the Recent list to the Open list.

  3. Click New in the Activities list. This opens the new activity details.

  4. Update the necessary fields in the activity details and click Save.


    Note


    The Customer Context gadget displays content from the Notes field as the title of the activity.


Click Close to exit.


Note


Each activity can have different fields and the Gadget dynamically displays fields associated with the specific activity.


 

Search for a Customer Record and Create a New Activity

This example shows how to search for a customer and create a new activity for a customer selected from the search results. For more information on Search, see Search for Customer Record.

  1. Click Search and type the name of the customer you want to create a new activity for.


    Note


    Click the toggle icon to access Search.


  2. Press Enter.

  3. Select the customer name from the returned list to open the Customer Record Preview.

  4. Click Open in the Customer Record Preview to edit this customer record.

    The customer record is added to the Open list.

  5. Click New in the Activities list. This opens the new activity details.

  6. Update the necessary fields in the activity details and click Save.

  7. Click Close to close the activity.

Each activity can have different fields. The Customer Context gadget displays the fields associated with each activity .
