Cisco WebEx End-of-Version Support Policy

Cisco WebEx Video Conferencing is a highly secure and scalable video conferencing service delivered through Cisco Collaboration Cloud. Being a cloud service helps Cisco WebEx to deliver new features, enhancements, and fixes automatically without any intervention from customers. Under special circumstances, many of our customers can choose to stay on specific versions of WebEx preventing them from getting further updates and enhancements.

Cisco is updating the end-of-support policy of Cisco WebEx release versions to serve these customers by keeping an effective balance between their need for minimizing change and yet receiving important updates and enhancements.

Locking Down WebEx

Customers looking to minimize changes in their Cisco WebEx service can lock their desktop applications to a supported lockdown version of Cisco WebEx desktop applications to prevent automatic updates of these applications. Customers have to then schedule updates of desktop application at a preferred time.

However, a WebEx release that offers a lockdown version of the desktop application continues to deliver bug fixes and minor enhancements routinely in the cloud. Customers automatically receive all updates, bug fixes, or enhancements that are made in the WebEx cloud.

End-of-Version Support Policy

  1. Once a WebEx release offers lockdown version of WebEx desktop application, Cisco will announce end-of-support for the previously available lockdown WebEx releases. Cisco will continue to support the previous release for a maximum of six months after the announcement. For example, with availability of the lockdown desktop application for WBS31 in March 2017, Cisco announced end-of-support for the WBS30 release with its continued support until September 2017. Cisco will not support the WBS30 WebEx release after end-of-support date. Customers are expected to upgrade to the newer supported release prior to the end-of-support.

  2. For a given Cisco WebEx release, when a newer lockdown version of the desktop application is available, Cisco will announce end-of-support for the previously available lockdown versions of desktop applications. Cisco will support the previously available lockdown desktop application for a maximum of six months after the announcement. For example, with availability of the WBS31.17 lockdown client in October 2017, Cisco will announce end-of-support for the WBS31.11 and WBS 31.14 lockdown versions, with their continued support for six months after announcement. Cisco will not support the desktop application after the end-of-support date. Customers are expected to upgrade to the newer supported release prior to the end-of-life.

  3. Cisco will not support lockdown customers using a non-lockdown version of the Cisco WebEx desktop application. These customers must upgrade to the latest available version or a lockdown version as soon as possible.
