Minimum Requirements for Video Conferencing

   

Once you start a support session, WebEx automatically detects your webcam. Most webcams that connect to your computer's USB or parallel port are compatible. The video quality can vary depending on the webcam that you use.

    

WebEx supports high-quality video up to 360p resolution (640 × 360). If your site or meeting does not support high-quality video, then standard video is used.

    

A system that meets the following minimum requirements can send or receive high-quality video.

    A webcam capable of producing high-quality video. WebEx supports most webcams of this type

              

  •           

    A computer with at least 1 GB of RAM and a dual-core processor

              

  •           

    A fast network connection

    A computer with at least 1 GB of RAM and a single-core processor

              

  •           

    A fast network connection

              

        
   

Send Video

        
1    Do one of the following:
  •       

    On the CSR dashboard, select the Tools tab, and then select Video.

          
  •       

    On the icon tray, or in the multisession window, select the Video icon.

          
2    Select Start My Video.      

Your customer can send video only after you start sending video.

     
3    Ask your customer to share their video by selecting Start My Video.
  •       

    For the CSR, the CSR video appears on the small screen and the customer video appears on the large screen.

          
  •       

    For the customer, the CSR video appears on the large screen and the customer video appears on the small screen.

          
  •       

    No matter how many participants are in the session, only two people can send video: the CSR and primary customer.

          
4    To close the video panel, select the minimize icon on the upper right corner of the panel.      
Caution             

After you minimize video, you do not stop sending it. Your video icon flashes to let you know that participants are continuing to receive your video.

      
     
5    If you or your customer wants to stop sending video, select Stop My Video.

Adjust Video Output

   

When sending video, during a support session, you can adjust video output to control:

    
  •      

    The quality of the video image

         

  •      

    The resolution, or size, of the video image

         

  •      

    Other settings that your camera supports, such as lighting and contrast

         

    

If more than one camera is attached to your computer, you can also select the video camera that you want to use.

   
      
1    On the video panel, select Options.
2    Adjust your video options as required.
3    (Optional) To select a different video camera, in the drop-down list under Capture Device, select the camera that you want to use.
