If you see a notification on the phone warning about excessive power usage from the connected device, unplug the device to protect your phone from potential damage. This happens when the device draws more power than the USB port can provide.

Best practices for device charging

  • Only charge devices with a rated input power that doesn't exceed the phone's maximum output power.
  • To prevent overcurrent problems when using Cisco Bluetooth Headsets with Cisco Desk Phone 9841, do one of the following actions:
    • Connect the headset to the phone utilizing the USB HD Adapter.
    • Fully charge the headset before connecting it to the phone with a USB cable.
    • Connect your phone to a wall socket for power, as USB over PoE provides less power.
  • Avoid forcefully inserting plugs into the USB ports and ensure they match correctly.
  • Never cover charging devices to prevent overheating.
  • Unplug the device if it's already fully charged.
