When you're on an active call, you can record it. You might hear a notification tone as you record the call.

During a recording, you see different icons in different recording state. For example, when your admin sets the recording state as On Demand with User Initiated Start, you see Record, and the following icons.

  • 9841/9851: PauseRec, StopRec, ResRec icons.
  • 9861/9871: Pause Record, Stop Record, Resume Record icons.

You see the icons on the Calls screen and also on the line key on which you are recording a call.

Before you begin

Your administrator enables your phone with call recording.

While on an active call, press Record or press More (…) and select Record.

You see a notification message This call is being recordedfor about 5 secs. You also see Recording in progress icon the icon of recording next to the line on which you are recording the call and on the phone screen. For phones with greyscale screen, you see the icon of recording icon.

(Optional) While recording is in progress:

  • 9841/9851: Press PauseRec to pause the recording.
  • 9861: Press Pause Record to pause the recording.
  • 9871: Press More (…) and then select Pause Record to pause the recording.
You see Recording paused icon the icon of pause next to the line and on the phone screen.

(Optional) To resume recording:

  • 9841/9851: Press ResRec.
  • 9861: Press Resume Record.
  • 9871: Press More (…) and then select Resume Record to pause the recording.
For phones with greyscale screen, the icon appears in greyscale.

(Optional) To stop the recording:

  • 9841/9851: Press StopRec.
  • 9861: Press Stop Record.
  • 9871: Press More (…) and then select Stop Record to pause the recording.
You see a recording stopped message and an icon the icon of stop recording next to the message.

Press End Call to end the call.
