Connecting a Touch 10 to a room device over the network can be convenient for example when you want to avoid visible cables in the meeting room, or when the Ethernet cable is not long enough.
Connecting over the network has to be done before registering the room device. Either when it is new, or after a factory reset. You can factory reset the room device from the settings menu. After a factory reset, you need a new activation code to register the room device to Cisco Spark.
If your network infrastructure provides Power over Ethernet (PoE), you don’t need a PoE injector. You can connect the Touch 10 directly to a wall socket (Ethernet switch) with a PoE rated Ethernet cable. For safety, the PoE source must be in the same building as Touch 10. The PoE rated Ethernet cable can be up to 100 m (330 ft.).
For a room device to show up in the list of available room devices:
The room device and Touch 10 must be on the same subnet.
The room device must have been restarted within the last 10 minutes. If the room device doesn’t appear in the list, try restarting it.
|1||Connect the Touch 10 and the room device to network wall sockets or to a network switch as described in the Touch 10 installation guide.|
|2||Follow the on-screen instructions.|
|3||When the Select a room device screen appears, a list of available room devices shows up on the Touch 10 screen. Tap the room device you want to connect to. If the room device doesn’t appear in the list, enter its IP address in the input field. Tap Enter.|
|4||If your Touch 10 needs a software upgrade, new software is downloaded from the codec and installed on the unit automatically as part of the set-up procedure. Touch 10 restarts after the upgrade.|
|5||Log in with username and passphrase to start connecting. The default username is admin with no passphrase set. Tap Login.|
|6||Continue with the first-time setup.|
