Introduction

You need a local user on the room device to:

  •

Extend the user interface with in-room controls.

  •

Extend the user interface to include video sources that are connected through an external video switch.

  •

Give users access the room device’s web interface or API without being signed in through the management portal.

You can manage local users from the Local Users page on the room device’s web interface. All local users, except the Spark Admin, are listed here, and you can see which user roles are assigned to the user.

Only the Spark Admin user has privileges to create and delete users.

Overview of User Roles

Users with Spark Admin role can:

  •

Only be used when you access the web interface through the management portal. The user is automatically created when entering Launch Advanced Settings, and it is automatically deleted when signing out of the management portal.

  •

Access the room device’s local web interface.

  •

Create and manage users with the Integrator and RoomControl roles.

Users with Integrator role can:

  •

Access the room device’s local web interface. The same access as a Spark Admin user, except creation of new users.

  •

Access the API over SSH, serial connection, or HTTP(S).

Users with RoomControl role can:

  •

Access the In-room control editor and corresponding development tools on the web interface, to create touch interface extensions (in-room controls).

  •

Access the API commands that are required to create touch interface extensions.
