Introduction

To set up certain features, and to allow for advanced AV configurations and integration with third-party control systems, you need access to the room device’s local web interface and API. You can access the web interface through the Cloud Collaboration management portal.

On the room device’s web interface, you can access its settings on the Configuration page, and see its status parameters on the Status page. In addition, you can use predefined advanced configurations such as presenter tracking and briefing room.

The web interface and API that are available for Cisco Spark registered room devices are scaled down compared to what is available for on-premise registered devices. Once you are signed in to the web interface, you can see the full list of available configurations and status information.

When you access the web interface through the management portal, a temporary local user Spark Admin is created. If you want to access the configurations and to program against the room device, without going through the management portal, you can set up a local user Integrator. To find out more about the local user roles, check the Local User Administration article.

Note: The setting is only available in the management portal for selected organizations. If you don't see “Launch Advanced Settings” in the portal, please ask your partner or Cisco contact to enable it.

Requirements:

  •

You need access to the Cisco Cloud Collaboration Management.

  •

The room device must be in the same organization as the management portal.

  •

You need IP connectivity to the room devices. Normally this means that you need to be on the same network.

Limitations:

  •

You can't select the no-login-required option on the serial port on Cisco Spark registered room devices (xConfiguration SerialPort LoginRequired).

  •

You can't use HTTP Feedback to get events from the Cisco Spark registered room devices (xCommand HttpFeedback Register).

Access Room Device Configurations and Statuses

1    Go to https://admin.ciscospark.com, and sign in to Cisco Cloud Collaboration Management.
2    Navigate to the Devices page, and select your device in the list.
3    Scroll down the device details pane, and click Launch Advanced Settings.
4    A new web browser window opens at http(s)://<endpoint ip or hostname>. If the authentication process, which involves both the management portal and the room device, is successful, a web session starts.
5    Navigate to Setup to open the Configuration and Status pages. The system configurations and statuses are grouped in categories. Choose a category in the left pane.

Set Up the PresenterTrack Feature

PresenterTrack feature enables the camera to follow a presenter while moving about on stage. You can set this up the from the web interface’s Presenter Tracking page.

PresenterTrack is supported by the following cameras and room devices:

  •

MX700 or MX800 with single or dual camera

  •

    SX80 with Precision 60 camera

We recommend you to be in the same room as the camera while setting up PresenterTrack.

Set Up a Briefing Room with the Pre-Defined Template

The briefing room set-up is designed to provide easy set-up, management, and use of a room for education, training, and similar activities. The briefing room is available as a room type template, which means that the required configurations are pushed automatically to the room device when you select the template.

Briefing Room is supported by the following room devices:

  •

    MX700

  •

    MX800

Where to Find Administrator and API Guides for On-Premise Registered Room Devices

For details about the web interface and the API, including descriptions of syntax and semantics, refer to the Administrator Guide and API Guide for the on-premise registered version of your room device. These guides are available online:

Navigate to Maintain and Operate Guides to find the Administrator Guides; and to Command References to find the API Guides. Select the latest version that's available for your product.
