How to Disable MacOS FaceTime Gestures and Reactions in a Webex Meeting
Feedback?Starting with Sonoma MacOS, a new gestures and reaction feature has been added to the FaceTime application. These gestures are also recognized in a Webex Meeting and can be confused with the "Recognize Hand Gestures" Webex option.
Mac users who have a tendency to give a thumbs up during a Webex meeting may have noticed something interesting starting with the release of MacOS Sonoma. In this release, FaceTime reactions were introduced and these gestures are also recognized within a Webex Meeting. Giving two thumbs up has a lot more flash than it used to!
These gestures are not part of the Webex option - "Recognize Hand Gestures". You can read more about this feature from Apple Support.
Follow the steps below to disable recognition of FaceTime hand gestures in a Webex Meeting:
