Set up ad-hoc conference

The conference call allows the users to initiate or join an ongoing call to achieve the three-way conversation. Before the users can use the feature on the phone, you must assign an available Media Resource Group List to a specific phone device or device pool.

Before you begin

Ensure that a conference bridge is configured for the ad-hoc conference.

Sign into Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration.

Choose Media Resources > Media Resource Group List.

Create a new media resource group list that contains the conference bridge.

Do one of the following actions:

  • To set up the feature for a specific phone:

    Choose Device > Phone and locate the phone that you want to set up.

  • To set up the feature for a device pool:

    Choose System > Device Pool and locate the device pool that you want to set up.

Navigate to the Roaming Sensitive Settings area and select the media resource group list (created in Step 3) from the Media Resource Group List field.

Click Save.

Set up meet-me conference

After you configure the meet-me numbers or patterns, the users can host or join a meet-me conference on the phones.

Before you begin

Ensure that a conference bridge is configured for the meet-me conference.

Sign into Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration.

Choose Media Resources > Media Resource Group List.

Create a new media resource group list that contains the conference bridge.

Do one of the following actions:

  • To set up the feature for a specific phone:

    Choose Device > Phone and locate the phone that you want to set up.

  • To set up the feature for a device pool:

    Choose System > Device Pool and locate the device pool that you want to set up.

Navigate to the Roaming Sensitive Settings area and select the media resource group list (created in Step 3) from the Media Resource Group List field.

Click Save.

Configure meet-me conference related parameters:

  1. Choose Call Routing > Meet-Me Number/Pattern.

  2. Find and locate the record that you want to set up.

  3. In the Meet-Me Configuration pane, set up the required fields. For example, Directory Number or Pattern and Minimum Security Level.

  4. Click Save.

Control the removal permission for the non-host users

As the administrator, you can determine whether the non-host users (non-controller participants) can have the ability to remove other conference participants.

Sign into Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration.

Choose System > Service Parameters.

Select a server from the Server drop-down list.

Select the service Cisco CallManager from the Service drop-down list.

In the Clusterwide Parameters (Feature - Conference) pane, set up the Advanced Ad Hoc Conference Enabled field:

  • True: The non-host users can remove other participants during a conference call.
  • False (default): The non-host users don't have the remove permission. In this case, only the host has the removal permission.

Click Save.
