You can connect a second screen to your Board Pro, Board Pro G2, Board Pro G3, Desk Pro, or Desk Pro G2 using an HDMI output connection.

The external screen gives you more flexibility for meetings, presentations, and shared content. Available layouts and behavior depend on your device.

Board Pro, Board Pro G2, and Board Pro G3

You can use the external screen to mirror the device screen, show shared content, display participants, or extend the meeting across both screens.

Desk Pro and Desk Pro G2

You can use the external screen for presentations and shared content while keeping meeting controls and participant interaction on the device screen.

Board Pro, Board Pro G2, and Board Pro G3

The external screen can be used for different purposes:

  • Inactive: Wallpaper, clock, or similar UI elements

  • Content: Copy of any content on the device screen

  • Participants: Use with external camera or briefing room mode

  • Mirror: Full mirror of the device screen

The default setup is that the external screen is reserved for content being shared into the meeting.

When not in a call or meeting, the external screen always shows a wallpaper or a clock.

Configure HDMI output

You can enable the HDMI out feature from the Device Settings menu, under Advanced features. Tap and toggle on HDMI out.

In the new settings menu, tap Display under Screen and video. Toggle on HDMI out.

On Board Pro G3, HDMI out is enabled by default.

The first time that you enable the HDMI out feature on your device, it immediately reboots. When it starts up again, your Board Pro will automatically detect inputs through the HDMI port.

If the HDMI connection is later disconnected, the device will revert to a single screen system without requiring any additional user intervention.

Configure HDMI output to mirror the device screen, reserve the external screen for presentations, or use both screens for supported meeting layouts.

The HDMI output feature provides three primary setups: Extended Meeting Mode, Presentation Only for Second Screen Mode, and Mirror Mode.

Extended Meeting mode:

Out of a call or meeting

Outside of a call, the external screen shows a clock when not in use. This is the default behavior on any device that is set up and not specially configured.

In a call or meeting

In a call with more than two participants, the external screen becomes active. This will be a multiscreen experience with the active speaker always positioned on the device screen.

The device screen uses MonitorRole: Auto. You can’t change this setting.

Layouts

Stack: Active speaker on device screen, grid on external screen

Prominent: Active speaker on external screen, grid on device screen

Extended Meeting mode configuration

  • Video Output Connector 2 MonitorRole: Auto

  • Video Monitors: Auto

Presentation Only for second screen mode:

In a call or meeting the external screen is only used for presentation without displaying participants, while the device screen only shows the meeting participants.

Presentation Only for second screen mode configuration

  • Video Output Connector 2 MonitorRole: Auto

  • Video Monitors: DualPresentationOnly

If you set the external screen to Presentation Only in Monitor Roles, the presentation will appear on both screens.

Mirror mode:

Mirror mode replicates the meeting experience on both screens, while call controls, notifications, and other UI elements are only available on the device screen.

This setup is intended for teaching scenarios and in large auditoriums where the device screen is difficult to see.

Mirror mode configuration

  • Video Output Connector 2 MonitorRole: First

  • Video Monitors: Auto

This can also be achieved by using Monitors:

  • Video Monitors: Single

You can either:

  • Set the configuration on one device.

  • Set the configuration on multiple devices.

  • Use configuration templates.

  • Use default configurations for your organization or location.

For more details on the different ways to set configurations, see the Device configurations for Board, Desk, and Room Series devices article.

Desk Pro and Desk Pro G2

Use an external screen to show presentations and shared content while the Desk Pro or Desk Pro G2 screen remains available for the meeting, controls, and participant interaction.

By default, the external screen is reserved for shared content in a call or meeting. When the device is not in a call, the external screen shows wallpaper or a clock.

If only one content source is connected, the content appears on the external screen. If another source is shared or previewed, the content appears on the Desk Pro or Desk Pro G2 screen.

Recommended setup

Place the external screen between your Desk Pro or Desk Pro G2 and your laptop. You can connect the laptop to the desk device with USB-C to share content and charge the laptop.

Configure HDMI output

On Desk Pro, you can enable the HDMI out feature from the Device Settings menu, under Advanced features. Tap and toggle on HDMI out.

On Desk Pro G2, HDMI out is enabled by default.

The first time that you enable the HDMI out feature on your device, it will immediately reboot. When it starts up again, your device automatically detects inputs through the HDMI port.

If the HDMI connection is later disconnected, the device reverts to a single screen system without requiring any additional user intervention.

Configure HDMI output to mirror the device screen, show presentations on the external screen, or show previews on both screens.

The HDMI output feature provides three primary setups: LastOnly Mode, Mirror Mode, and Multiscreen Mode. You can configure these using the setting: Video Output MirroringType.

LastOnly mode:

LastOnly mode is the default setup for Desk Pro.

When only one source is connected, the presentation only appears on the external screen plugged into the desk device. This way you can keep using the device screen for other tasks.

If a second presentation is started, it appears on the device screen, so that both presentations are shown at the same time.

When an external screen is connected, the monitor role defaults to PresentationOnly. This reserves the external screen for presentations, both previews and content shared in a call or meeting. All participants are visible on your device screen and only presentations will be shown on the external screen. This allows you to continue with your work on the external screen while communicating with participants on your device.

Multiscreen mode:

With Multiscreen mode, a preview is shown on all available screens.

Mirror mode:

Mirror mode shows the presentation on both screens, while call controls, notifications, and other UI elements are only available on the device screen.

This setup is intended for teaching scenarios and in large auditoriums where the device screen is difficult to see.

You can either:

  • Set the configuration on one device.

  • Set the configuration on multiple devices.

  • Use configuration templates.

  • Use default configurations for your organization or location.
