You can optimize your microphone audio to remove background noise for meetings and calls on your phone, so that the other side can hear you more clearly.

On Cisco Desk Phone 9861 and 9871, you can also optimize the incoming audio, so that you can hear the voice from other side more clearly.

Press Settings the Settings hard key

If prompted, enter the password to access the Settings menu. You can get the password from your administrator.

Do one of the following actions according to your phone model:

  • (Cisco Desk Phone 9841 or 9851): Select User preferences > Audio > Microphone audio.
  • (Cisco Desk Phone 9861): Select User preferences > Audio > Smart audio > Microphone audio.

Choose from the available options:

  • Original—Preserves all audio, including music and noise, with no processing
  • Noise removal—Removes all noise
  • Optimize for my voice—Removes all noise and background voices

Press Apply.

To optimize the incoming audio during a call or meeting, do the following:

This feature is available only on Cisco Desk Phone 9861 and 9871.
  1. Select User preferences > Audio > Incoming audio.

  2. Choose from the available options:

    • Original—Preserves all audio, including music and noise, with no processing
    • Optimize for voice—Removes all noise and enhances low-fidelity audio to high-definition
  3. Press Apply.
