With RoomOS April (11.27.1) release and the on-premises release RoomOS 11.27.2, users will be required to set an admin passphrase immediately upon logging into a new or reset device as the first step in the flow. Previously, devices allowed an initial blank admin passphrase which resulted in a constant on-screen warning until the passphrase was set by the admin.

This change affects both the local device web interface and the terminal (xAPI).

This change does not impact onboarding processes that use activation codes from Control Hub.

Third-party or custom-built provisioning solutions

The change particularly impacts customers using third-party or custom-built provisioning solutions, making it important for them to adapt their onboarding flows accordingly.

It will also impact companies using third-party installers for the initial physical installation of devices, to later complete onboarding through device web interface or terminal access.

In these scenarios, it is important that the passphrase that is initially set is securely communicated to the organizations device administrator to ensure continued access to the device.
