Overview

The WBS40.4 Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software is not compatible with the previously released Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Environments offered in WBS39.3.

  • The Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software uses the same Webex Meetings Desktop App that is used in non-VDI environments.

  • Audio and video traverse between the user’s desktop and the Webex Cloud with video up to 720p resolution.

  • Easy deployment for Cloud meetings:

    • The Webex Meetings Desktop App is available on a hosted desktop and the agent plugin is available on the user’s thin client.

    • No additional infrastructure is needed. For example, Cisco Unified Call Manager and Cisco Expressway aren’t required.

  • The Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software is available for Citrix XenDesktop 7.15, 7.16, 7.17 and 7.18, and thin client OS running Windows 10.

Trials are ongoing for Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software for VMware, as well as for Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop plugin for eLux and Ubuntu Thin Client OS. Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) if you are interested in taking part in these trials.

Functional changes in the Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software

The Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software supports most of the Webex Meetings Desktop for Windows features, unless otherwise noted.

  • The Webex Meetings Desktop Virtual Software is currently in Beta release.

  • The Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software doesn't support the auto upgrade on the desktop client and plugin.

  • Meetings with the Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software look the same as those using the Webex Meetings desktop app, but you'll notice a few differences.

    • In the audio and video preview window in a VDI environment, the preview tile is solid white.

    • In a VDI environment, the meeting controls stay fixed at the bottom of your screen, layered over a white background.

  • In a VDI environment, recording is only available to the cloud. You can’t record to your computer.

  • In a VDI environment, you can only share your screen. Application sharing isn’t available.
