Before you begin

This feature is available on Webex App for Windows and Mac on the Webex Suite meeting platform.

You can assign any participant as the captioner, including a guest, the host, or a cohost. The participant must have joined the meeting.

Make sure manual captioning is allowed in a meeting.

To assign a captioner—if one isn't assigned—click Closed caption options for manual captioning closed captions options button > Assign a participant to type captions, select the participant, and then click Assign.

If you prefer, locate the person in the participants list and next to their name, click More options More Options button > Make captioner.

A notification appears in the participant's meeting window letting them know that they're the captioner. They can start manually typing captions.

In the participants list, the label, captioner, appears below the name of the participant you assigned as the captioner.

To change the captioner, click Closed caption options for manual captioning closed captions options button > Change, select the participant, and click Assign.

To remove the captioner role from a participant, locate the person in the participants list and next to their name, click More options More Options button > Remove captioner role.

A notification appears in the participant's meeting window letting them know that they're no longer the captioner.
