This Help article is for Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series and Cisco Video Phone 8875 registered to Cisco BroadWorks or Webex Calling.

Conference calling lets you easily add others to an active call on your phone, so you can collaborate instantly without scheduling a meeting. You can add participants from directories, call history, on-hold calls, or add them by dialing their extension numbers.

By default, when the initiator leaves the conference call, the call ends for all participants. However, depending on the call control system configuration, a three-way conference can continue as a two-way call after the initiator leaves.

Add more people to a call

You can invite additional people to join your ongoing call and hold an ad-hoc conference.

The maximum number of participants in a conference call varies depending on the call control system and its configuration:

  • On phones registered to Webex Calling, a conference call supports up to 6 participants.
  • On phones registered to BroadWorks, a conference call supports up to 15 participants.

1

On an active call, press the Conference hard key or softkey.

For 9811, 9841,9851, and 9861 Press Conf or Conference.

Icon for 9871 and 8875 for common topics Select More More Options button > Conference .

Once you press the Conference key, the current call is automatically put on hold.

2

Select the person that you want to add from call history, contacts, or on-hold calls. Do one of the following actions as needed:

  • To add a person from directories, select Favorites or Directories, locate the person, then select Call.
  • To add a person from the call history, select Recents, locate the person, then select Call.
  • To add a person from an on-hold call, select Calls to open the list, then select the desired call and press the Conference key to add it to the conference.

The Calls tab is available only when there are on-hold calls on the phone.

  • To add a speed dial contact to the conference, follow the step for your phone model:

For 9811, 9841,9851, and 9861 Press Speed dial and select the desired contact from the list.

The speed dial list displays both basic speed dials and BLF with speed dials. In the list, the BLF with speed dials work as basic speed dials and don't show the monitored line status.

  • Enter a complete URI address. However, the phone doesn't support searching for a contact by URI address.

3

Wait until the person answers the call, then press the Conference key to add them to the conference call.

4

Repeat Steps 1 through 3 to add more people.
