As a local Admin user for a Webex device, you can create custom User Interface (UI) Extensions that appear on the touch interface. These are programmed using macros and the xAPI.

UI Extensions can be programmed to do many tasks, such as:

  • Collect data from a webserver and display it on the user interface.

  • Provide a custom problem reporting interface on the user interface.

  • Add a panel to control peripherals in the room.

  • Create shortcuts for launching web apps.

  • Extend the user interface to include video sources that are connected through an external video switch.

You can use the UI Extensions Editor to create and activate custom panels. The editor is available from the local web interface of the device.

You need a local Admin user on the device to create UI Extensions together with macros and the xAPI. The Admin user also provides access to the local web interface.

Launch the UI Extension Editor

Open the local web interface for the device.

From the customer view in https:/​/​admin.webex.com, go to the Devices page, and select your device in the list. Go to Support and click Web Portal.

If you have set up an Admin, Integrator or RoomControl user for the device, you can access the local web interface directly by opening a web browser and typing in http(s)://<endpoint ip or hostname>.

From the Customization tab, select UI Extensions Editor.
