Connect Automatically to a Cisco Webex Board

When you are close to a Cisco Webex Board, it automatically connects with your Cisco Webex app and greets you. If the board is in sleep mode when you enter the room, it wakes up when it detects your presence.

When you are connected to a board, you can:

  • Present wirelessly to the board.

  • Use the board for calls with your app as remote control.

  • Open a space on the board.



You can see if the app is connected, when the board's name shows up on your space list. On the desktop app, they are on the bottom of your space list. On your mobile app, the board shows up on the top of the list.

The device uses ultrasound to discover Webex Boards which works on most devices. Ultrasound can't go through walls, so it only works if you're physically in the same room as the board.


  • Turn on automatic connection on your app if it has been turned off. You can find it under Preferences on your desktop app and under Advanced settings on your mobile app.

  • On iPhone, iPad, and Android, ensure that Discover Devices is turned on.

  • Allow recording on your mobile device.

  • For the connection to work, you can only have one device that uses ultrasound in a room.

Share Your Screen on Cisco Webex Board

When your Mac or Windows app is connected to a Webex Board, click the device name on the bottom of your space list. Then click Share Screen.

Select whether you want to share the entire screen or only one of the open applications.

To stop sharing, click the Stop Sharing button on the top of your laptop screen.

Start a Call from a Space on a Cisco Webex Board

Choose a space from your Cisco Webex app.

Select to got to the activity menu.

If you are connected to a Webex Board, select Start with video to start the call with the people in that space. Or you can find the board from by selecting More options which opens a list of devices you have been connected to earlier. Select the board you want to use for the call.

If you can't find your board in the list, select Connect to a device at the bottom of the space list. Then search for the board you want to connect to, or select one of the suggested boards.

Start a Call On a Cisco Webex Board from the App

From the left pane on your Cisco Webex app, select

You can see a list of recent and missed calls.

Enter the name or email address, or a video address above the dial pad. You can also enter a number using the dial pad.

Select a Cisco Webex Board from the drop-down list.

If you can't find your board in the list, select Connect to a device at the bottom of the space list. Then search for the board you want to connect to, or select one of the suggested boards.

Select to start the call on the board you selected.

Connect Manually

If your device doesn't automatically connect with a Webex Board, you can add the board to your list of devices and select it manually.

To select a board to connect to, select Connect to a device on the bottom of your space list. Either select one of the proposed boards or select Search for a device to search for a specific board.


  • When you connect manually, you can't open a space on a board. You can only share your screen on the board or use the board to make a call.

  • Manual connection only works on Windows or Mac.

  • You can only connect manually to the boards in your own organization.
