This Help article is for Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series and Cisco Video Phone 8875. You can choose a different ringtone for each line.

Ringtone and volume

A different ringtone helps you distinguish incoming calls on your line.

When the phone is in idle mode, you can adjust the ringtone volume with the volume key the volume hard key.

When you’re on a call or in a meeting, the volume key controls the audio volume.

Press Settings the Settings key.

If prompted, enter the password to access the Settings menu. You can get the password from your administrator.

Select User preferences > Audio > Ringtone and volume > Ringtone.

Select a ringtone, and then press Apply.

If your phone has multiple lines, select a line first, and then set the ringtone for that line. You can set a different ringtone for each line.

Ringtones with (Not installed) displayed next to the ringtone name are new custom ringtones available to you. The label disappears after the ringtone is played or assigned.

You can listen to the selected ringtone again by pressing Play.

Go back to the Ringtone and volume screen, select Ringtone volume.

Press the volume key (- or +) to decrease or increase the volume.

You can also press the softkey (< or >) to adjust the volume.

If your administrator has set a minimum ringer volume, you won’t be able to lower the volume below this level.

Scroll down to the Audio section and select Ringtone and volume.

Drag the volume slider left or right to adjust the ringtone volume.

If your administrator has set a minimum ringer volume, you won’t be able to lower the volume below this level.
