Silence incoming call ringer (ignore calls) on 9800/8875

list-menuFeedback?
Silencing the ringer doesn't reject an incoming call, helping you avoid interruptions while staying aware of the call.

When you're unable to answer an incoming call, you can silence it without rejecting it. The phone stops ringing but continues to display a visual alert, so you can still answer the call. Ignored calls are marked with the silenced icon Silence incoming call icon in the Calls list.

The ringer returns to its configured volume for the next call. If unanswered calls are redirected to voicemail, you can check your messages later in the Recents list.

On the phone with multiple lines, if you or your administrator enables the "Auto-collapse into line key" feature on the phones, the active call window is minimized to the line label itself. The inline call label can display the call session information, such as caller or callee name, number, call duration, call state, and call state relevant icons. In this situation, you can press the line key to open the full call window. This feature is available only on Cisco Desk Phone 9811, 9841, 9851, and 9861 registered with BroadWorks or Webex Calling.

Do one of the following actions to silence an incoming call:

  • Select Ignore.

If multiple incoming calls arrive at the same time, select Ignore all to silence the ringer for all the incoming calls.

  • Press the volume down key (-) the Volume key.

Additional presses on the volume key unmute the ringer and adjust the volume. If no minimum ringer volume is configured, lowering the volume to zero also silences the ringer, and you must manually raise the volume for the next call. If a minimum volume is set, the ringer cannot be silenced by lowering the volume.
