When Webex displays link previews, it shares the link with Google Safe Browsing for verification. Webex also reads metadata of the website to display in the preview. For both of these operations, the computer's IP address might be shared with the third-party website. If you don't want the app to do this on users' behalf, you can turn off previews for shared links.

This feature is enabled by default. Android, iPhone or iPad users can choose if they see the previews in their app.

We only show previews for links when the website links:

  • Include either https:// or http://

  • Are shared between people in your organization

  • Are shared in spaces with 250 people or less

  • Are checked by Google Safe Browsing

  • Have a site title and the description is longer than 10 words

Prevent website previews from being displayed when anyone in your organization shares a link.

Sign in to Control Hub, then under Services, click Messaging.

Under Collaboration Restrictions, toggle off Enable preview for shared links.

To prevent website previews from being displayed when users in specific groups share links, first toggle off this setting in a messaging template, then apply that template to groups. You must be using groups in order to use this feature.

Sign in to Control Hub.

Toggle off Allow previewing shared links for a template by completing the steps in the Manage messaging templates section of Configure settings templates.

Apply the template to a group by going to Management, then selecting Groups.

Choose a group from the list, then click Assignments.

Under Settings templates, select Messaging.

Select to the right of Messaging, then click Edit.

Select the template you modified in step 2 from the drop-down list.

Click Save.
