Participants with the host role can:

  • Add or remove participants

  • Mute or unmute participants

  • Lock or unlock the meeting

  • Record the meeting

  • End the meeting

If you want to let someone start a meeting without you, you can also let someone else be an alternate host.

Transfer the host role during a Webex meeting or aWebex Training session

You can transfer the host role during a Webex meeting, Personal Room meeting, or training session. Go to the Participants panel, right-click the participant you want to make the host, and then click Change Role To > Host.

Transfer the host role during an event—Events (classic)

Go to the Participants panel, right-click the panelist you want to make the host, and then click Change Role To > Host.

If you want to make an attendee a host, make them a panelist first by going to the Participants Panel and clicking View All Attendees. Select the attendee who you want to make the host, and then click Make Panelist.

Let your meeting continue after you leave

If you're the host, you can leave and let another meeting participant continue a meeting on your behalf. To transfer the host role to a meeting participant, go to File > Leave Meeting, and then click Leave Meeting.

Only participants connected to the online meeting can become the host. Participants connected only to the audio portion of the meeting can't become the host.

If the host of a meeting disconnects before you transfer the host role, Webex Meetings reassigns the host role in the following order:

  • Alternate host

An alternate host must have a host license on your Webex site.

When you schedule a meeting using a free Webex Meetings account, you can't assign an alternate host.

  • Signed-in presenter

  • Signed-in attendee

  • Presenters who aren't signed in

  • Attendees who aren't signed in

  • Users who dialed in from a device
