Solution:
The chat panel can be disabled while scheduling from the website and within an active meeting.

To disable the chat panel while scheduling from the website:

On the scheduling page click on Show advanced options.
Select Scheduling options drop-down option.
Navigate to Meeting options and select Edit meeting options.
From the pop-up uncheck the Chat box.
Select OK.

To disable the chat panel within an active meeting:

Select Meeting drop-down from the menu bar on the top.
Select Options.
In the Meeting Options window, uncheck the Chat box.
Select OK.

To manage who participants can chat with in a meeting:

Select Participant drop-down from the menu bar on the top.
Select Assign Privileges.
Choose who participants can chat with.
Select OK.
