Record a call on 9800/8875 (Multiplatform)

This Help article is for Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series and Cisco Video Phone 8875 registered to Cisco BroadWorks or Webex Calling.

When you're on an active call, you can record it. You might hear a notification tone as you record the call.

During a recording, you can see different softkeys in different recording states. You can also see the status icons on the Calls screen and also on the line key on which you are recording a call.

Before you begin

Your administrator enables your phone with call recording.

While on an active call, press or tap More (…) and select Record.

The phone displays the notification message The call is being recorded for about 2 seconds at the top middle of the screen. Meanwhile, the phone also displays the Recording in progress the icon of recording icon next to the line on which you are recording the call on the screen. Phones with greyscale screen displays the Recording in progress icon as the icon of recording.

Only the person who starts the call recording is notified by the notification message and the icon. The other person in the call may not know the call is being recorded.

(Optional) To pause a recording:

  • Press PauseRec.
  • Press Pause Record.
  • Icon for 9871 and 8875 for common topics Tap More (…) and then choosePause Record.
You can see the Recording paused icon the icon of pause next to the line on the phone screen. Phones with greyscale screen displays the icon in greyscale.

(Optional) To resume the recording:

  • Press ResRec.
  • Press Resume Record.
  • Icon for 9871 and 8875 for common topics Tap More (…) and then choose Resume Record.

(Optional) To stop the recording:

  • Press StopRec.
  • Press Stop Record.
  • Icon for 9871 and 8875 for common topics Tap More (…) and then choose Stop Record.
The phone displays a recording stopped message and an icon the icon of stop recording next to the message.

Press or tap End Call to end the call.
