You may use the Join Before Host method outlined below to allow someone without a host account to conduct the meeting on your behalf.

The Join Before Host method consists of three major steps.

Use the steps below to allow someone to conduct the meeting on your behalf:

Webex Meetings

  1. Schedule a new meeting or edit an existing meeting.
  2. Click on the Show advanced options drop-down.

  1. Click on the Scheduling options drop-down.
  2. Next to Join before host, check the box for Attendees can join x minutes before start time.
    • It is recommended that this value is set to 15 minutes.

  1. Add the person who will be conducting the meeting on your behalf as an attendee.
  2. Complete the rest of the scheduling process, then click the Schedule or SAVE button when finished.

Webex Training

  1. Schedule a new session or edit an existing session.
  2. In the Date and Time section, check the box for Attendees can join x minutes before the start time.
    • This value can be set in 5 minute increments up to half an hour total.

  2. Complete the rest of the scheduling process, then click the Schedule or Update button.

Webex Events

  1. Schedule a new event or edit an existing one.
  2. In the Date & Time section, check the box for Attendees can join x minutes before the scheduled start time.
    • This value can be 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

  1. Add the person who will be conducting the meeting on your behalf as an attendee.
  2. Complete the rest of the scheduling process, then click the Schedule This Event or Update This Event button.

After Scheduling or editing the meeting, use these steps to obtain the Host Key:

  1. In modern view click on the Meetings link in the left navigation bar.
  2. Click the topic link of the meeting you need to obtain the host key for.
  3. The Host key will be listed on this page, send the host key via email to person conducting the session on your behalf.

After the other party has joined the meeting they will use these steps to reclaim host privileges:

  1. Click on the Participant menu, then choose Reclaim Host Role.

    The 'Reclaim Host Role' window appears.
  2. Type the 6 digit host key provided by the host, then click the OK button.

    You will now become the host and presenter of the meeting and can begin conducting the meeting.

Note: Cisco Webex strongly recommends not sharing your Webex user name and password with anyone for safety and security reasons.
