If it’s inconvenient to chat with someone on the phone, you can leave a voice message for that person instead. For example, you are in a different time zone and you know that the person you’re calling probably can’t talk right now.
You can choose to leave a voicemail message for a person directly. You don’t have to talk to the person first.
Dial *55 followed by the extension of the person. The *55 feature code is for Direct Voicemail Transfer and works on an active call. An internal caller can reach a person's voicemail directly by logging into the Voice Portal, compose a message and send it to the recipients mailbox. For an external caller, it depends on the voicemail settings of the called party. If the person doesn’t have a voicemail account, you reach their phone, not their voicemail. |
