Error: 'We could not share this file because this file type is not supported for file sharing' when Sharing a PDF File

RESOLUTION
To fix the problem, set Adobe Reader as the default .PDF reader.

NOTE: You may download the latest version of Adobe Reader at http://get.adobe.com/reader.

Method 1:

  1. Browse to the location of the .PDF file you wish to share.
  2. Right-click on the saved .PDF file.
  3. Select Open with....
  4. Choose Adobe Reader from the list of available programs.
  5. Check the box Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
  6. Click OK to confirm that the .PDF file loads using Adobe Reader.

Method 2:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, click Default Programs.
  3. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
  4. Double-click on .pdf.
  5. Under Choose the program you want to use to open this file, select Adobe Reader.
  6. Check the box Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
  7. Click OK to confirm that the .PDF file loads using Adobe Reader.

You should now be able to share the file successfully.

Note: Windows 8.1: Webex does not support Windows Reader by Microsoft Corporation to import PDF documents into the meeting client. Make Adobe Reader the default PDF client.

The following error may occur when sharing .PDF files if the file type is not associated with an application on your computer:
