Real-time translation is supported as a paid add-on for Webex Meetings on version 41.5 and later sites.

Beginning with the 41.6 update, Webex Events (new) webinar mode supports real-time translation as a paid add-on.

In addition to Webex Meetings and Webex Events (new), with the 41.7 update, the Webex app supports real-time translation. Meetings started or joined from a space don't support real-time translation.

Webex for Government doesn't support real-time translation.

Real-time translation must be enabled by your site administrator for Webex Meetings and Webex Events (new).

For more information about real-time translation, see Real-Time Translation in Webex Meetings and Events.

In the 41.7 and later sites, host and attendees with a Webex Meetings paid plan can turn on closed captions and real-time translations without turning on Webex Assistant for Webex Meetings. However, closed captions and real-time translation users on version 41.6 and earlier sites will experience the following issues and limitations when meeting with users who have version 41.7 and later.

  • If the host is entitled for closed captions, and then a user with a newer version of Webex Meetings turns on closed captions, then Android users on version 41.6 and earlier sites will be able to see closed captions, but they won't be able to turn them off.

  • If the meeting or event host on version 41.6. and earlier sites turns off Webex Assistant, or an attendee on 41.7 and later sites turns on closed captions while Webex Assistant is already off, then the following occurs:

    • Highlights and voice commands won't be available during the meeting or event.

    • Attendees on version 41.6 and earlier sites will see that Webex Assistant appears to be on even though they can't use meeting or event highlights or voice commands. Closed captions can still be turned on and off.

    • Attendees on version 41.7 and later sites will receive an error message that says closed captions are temporarily unavailable. They can select Show closed captions to turn on closed captions.
