When you enable people focus, your layouts change dynamically to crop away empty background and optimize each participant’s space on the screen. When enabled, cropping is dynamic and occurs whenever it will enhance your meeting experience.

When you join a call on a supported device with people focus enabled, incoming video from other supported devices will be cropped on your screen. If another device in the call doesn't support people focus, that device's incoming video won't be cropped on your screen.

People focus is a Webex Meetings feature that is available on cloud-registered Boards and Desk Series devices (excluding Desk Hub) that are running RoomOS 11.

People focus is currently available as an external beta feature. This means that there are some known limitations which are under active development. You can report issues and submit feedback here.

Enable people focus

People focus is turned on and off on receiving devices. This means when you activate it on your device, you’re choosing to see cropped video on your side of the call – it doesn’t mean that other devices are automatically receiving cropped video from you.

People focus is turned off by default. You can enable people focus on your device, during a call:

  1. Tap your device's touch screen to access the call controls.

  2. Tap the Layout button. The Layout menu opens.

  3. People focus is at the bottom of the menu. Toggle it ON.

Your current layout will adjust automatically and realign to show cropped participants.

  • If speaker tracking is supported and enabled on your device, disable close-ups to allow other devices in a call to crop your incoming video. Go to Device Settings > Advanced Features > Camera View > and toggle OFF Close-ups.

  • If you disable Best Overview on your device your incoming video will not be cropped on receiving devices.
