Webex App | Explicit consent in meetings

list-menuFeedback?
Before a meeting can be recorded, summarized, or transcribed, everyone participating needs to give their consent. This way, you’re fully informed and in control of your personal data. Explicit consent enables organizations to comply with global consent laws.

Many countries have implemented regulations that require organizations to explicitly ask for consent when collecting user generated information, for example - GDPR in Europe.

Explicit consent requires participants to agree when consent-required features are started in the meetings. Consent-required features include:

  • Meeting recordings

  • AI assistant

  • Meeting transcripts

If a participant doesn't consent, they are placed in a read-only mode where they can listen to the meeting but their audio and video is turned off, sharing is disabled, and meeting chat is turned off.

Explicit consent is off by default, administrators need to enable it for their organizations.

Limitations

Participants joining from older client versions, standalone devices, or who call in to the meeting, will continue with the existing experience.

Features such as remote desktop control, whiteboards, and annotation, won't be blocked for participants who have declined consent.
