As an administrator, you can set in-meeting chat retention and compliance policies for your users in Control Hub. Configure how Webex handles in-meeting chats after each meeting. Retain or delete in-meeting chats according to your organization’s data retention requirements.

Overview

This feature lets you control which type of in-meeting chats (group chats, direct messages, and breakout session chats) Webex retains. Previously, Webex only retained group chats according to your organization’s Webex meetings retention policy. Now, you can choose whether Webex retains group chats, direct messages, and breakout session chats for compliance purposes.

This feature is available on our Webex Suite meeting platform. Find out if your meetings use the Webex Suite meeting platform.

Users can only access group chats after a meeting. Users can’t access direct messages or breakout session chats once the meeting ends.

Configure in-meeting chats

You can define how your organization manages in-meeting chats (group chats, direct messages, and breakout session chats) for compliance.

1

Sign in to Control Hub.

2

Go to Service > Meeting > Settings, and scroll to the In-meeting chat section.

3

Choose one of the following options:

  • Save all in-meeting chats & allow users access—This saves all in-meeting chats for compliance based on your Webex meetings retention policies. After the meeting, users can view the saved group chat to reference key decisions for a better collaboration experience.
  • Save all in-meeting chats for compliance only—This saves all in-meeting chats for compliance based on your Webex meetings retention policies. In-meeting chats aren’t visible to users after the meeting.
  • Clear all in-meeting chats—This deletes all in-meeting chats after the meeting. Users can’t view chats, and Webex doesn’t retain them for compliance.
