As an administrator you can allow specific users to treat their physical devices or soft clients (Webex App, desktop, tablet, mobile) as a one-way or two-way intercom.

Configure push-to-talk for the users

Sign in to Control Hub.

Go to Management > Users.

Select a user and click Calling.

Go to Between-user permissions section and then choose Push-to-Talk.

Check Auto answer calls to allow this user's phone to answer the push-to-talk calls automatically.

The auto-answering works only with the primary device of the user.

Choose the connection type:

  • One-way—the calling user can start one-way push-to-talk calls. The called party can hear the caller but can’t respond during the push-to-talk call.
  • Two-way—the calling user can start two-way push-to-talk calls. The called party can respond during the push-to-talk call.

Choose the access type:

  • Allowed lines—Choose this option to create a list of allowed lines which can make push-to-talk calls to this user.

  • Blocked lines—Choose this option to create a list of blocked lines which can't make push-to-talk calls to this user.

From the drop-down, choose your Allowed or Blocked lines list and then click Save.

Allowed lines can press *50 and then enter the extension of this user to make a push-to-talk call to them.

Configure push-to-talk for the workspaces

Before you begin

Ensure workspaces have a professional license assigned. To find out more about the features that are available with workspace licenses, see Features available by license type for Webex Calling.

Sign in to Control Hub.

Go to Management > Workspaces.

Select a workspace and click Calling.

Go to Workspace permissions section and then choose Push-to-Talk.

Check Auto answer calls to allow this workspace's phone to automatically answer the push-to-talk calls.

The auto-answering works only with the primary device of the workspace.

Select a virtual line and click Calling.

If you're a location administration, you can add only the users, workspaces, and virtual lines pertaining to your assigned locations to the allowed or blocked list.
