Introducing Cisco Room Bar BYOD

The Cisco Room Bar BYOD is a flexible room device that allows you to equip your small meeting spaces, huddle and focus rooms with a cost-efficient and scalable BYOD solution that works with any meeting. You can simply connect to your monitor with HDMI and plug in your computer with USB-C to host any meeting. It provides a great video and audio experience in meetings with a high-quality camera, speakers and microphones that include AI-noise removal.

Room Bar BYOD is a Room Bar without Room Navigator. Room Bar BYOD functions as an advanced webcam without the Room Navigator. By connecting your computer with a USB-C cable, you can utilize the device's camera, speaker system, and microphones. Additionally, a screen can be attached to display PC content.

Connecting a Navigator at any time transforms it into a regular Room Bar, allowing for standard onboarding. To revert to BYOD mode, a factory reset is required.

In BYOD mode, the system features a custom home screen explaining its use. It can operate as a webcam without a network connection. If connected to a network, wireless computer sharing is possible alongside USB-C connectivity. Network connection also enables system configuration from the web UI or command line.

Room Bar BYOD Functionality

USB-C connection

Upon connection, the screen is shared automatically, and the computer application has access to audio and video. Calls can be made from computer. These features are available using USB-C:

  • Access camera, speakers, microphones and show content on screen
  • AI noise cancellation and automatic group framing

Connect to Network

You need to setup an admin password after plug in the network cable.

You can configure the following from the Device web interface:

  • Miracast
  • Enable Control Hub registration
  • Change language

Admins must gain LAN access to the device and setup the advanced network settings through the device web interface.

Cisco Webex

The Webex App can control the Room Bar BYOD just like it would any other cloud connected device. When paired with the Room Bar BYOD, users can make calls, join meetings, and present wirelessly using Webex. The Room Bar BYOD can only be registered as a shared device. When registered to Cisco Webex, these features are available:

  • Manage software
  • Centralized software configuration
  • Peripherals visibility
  • Utilization metrics
  • Power management configuration
  • Device control through Webex App
  • Join, start, pair, answer calls

Add a Room Navigator or touch screen

You can easily upgrade your Room Bar BYOD to a fully functional Room Bar by acquiring a Room Navigator. Simply connect to the Room Navigator and complete the setup process. Once setup is complete, your Room Bar will have access to standard configurations, enhancing its functionality as a room device.

Activate a Room Bar BYOD

Before you begin

You need to register the Room Bar BYOD to Webex using Device web interface. When you register your Room Bar BYOD device to Cisco Webex, you can easily control it through Control Hub. To learn more about Control Hub, see Get started with Cisco Webex Control Hub .

You need to register the device to Webex to get updates. If you are not registered the device to Webex then you need to upgrade the software from the device web interface. To find out more about software updates, see RoomOS software upgrades .

Use Wi-Fi on Room Bar BYOD

You can set up Wi-Fi connection from the device web interface or using the command:

xCommand Network Wifi Configure

You need to connect the network cable to access all the available Wi-Fi settings.
