    • Phones can alert for Webex Meetings that are scheduled through Outlook or otherwise.

    • Ability to join Webex Meeting as a Voice and Video participant. This capability applies only for MPP video enabled models.

    • New Softkey option to review list of scheduled meetings

    • Ability to enable or disable using Device Settings in Control Hub (Meeting option).

  • ACD Settings per line with Virtual Lines

    • Assign virtual lines to MPP devices and add these devices to a Call Queue, also enable device ACD settings. The ACD soft keys now display on the line that is part of the call queue.

    • On removing the line from call queue, the soft keys are not shown on that line.

    • The soft key settings are upgraded during the nightly device configuration upgrade. Administrators can apply the changes manually for the changes to appear immediately, on changing the Call Queue.

End User Requirements:

Devices update automatically during their nightly resync window.

MPP 88xx Series 8811, 8841, 8845, 8851, 8861, 8865

What’s Changing:

The Phone LED Line Key pattern will be defaulted to align with the LED pattern used by Enterprise Phones.

This change only impacts new organizations or existing organization that is not using Device Settings feature. Organizations that are using Device Settings and wish to use the new LED pattern must set the LED pattern to Preset1 in Device Settings.

This update will also update the phone configuration such that the dialed number appears in the Call History rather than the Connected Identity number.

Change Details:

The detailed changes for the LED update can be found here. The Preset1 Pattern and Color column in Tables 24–31 define the changes for this update. The Default Pattern and Color column in Tables 24–31 define the current settings.

For the Call History update, the phones currently replace the Dialed Digits with the Connected Identity number when a call is transferred to another user. This removes the originally contacted user from the call history. This update changes the phone to always store the dialed user’s number in the call history.

End User Impacts:

What’s Changing:

The MPP Configuration will be updated such that the phone will use the Directory and Unified Call History services provided on the Webex platform.

Change Details:

The Webex Directory Service will be the default source for searching for contacts from the phone. This directory contains all Webex users. The Webex Unified Call History will be the default source for viewing a user’s call history. This call history contains calls made from all phones, Webex Video Devices or Webex App.

Webex Unified Call History is not supported for workspaces. To enable call history on the workspace device, administrators must use the Device Settings feature and set the Call History parameter toLocal Call History for the device.

This update requires phones to be Webex Aware.

Devices that aren’t Webex Aware will have no directory or call history access. Administrators must ensure their firewalls are open and their user accounts are verified per the instructions defined in the Webex Aware Onboarding Announcement.

Administrators can choose to revert these enhanced directory and call history settings to previous settings. This action can be performed through the Device Settings feature on Control Hub. The settings to change are:

This table lists the changes with the MPP Webex Onboarding Update.

Service Platforms: Webex Calling
Markets: All Webex Calling Regions
Announcement Date: August 1, 2022
Information: Issues with MPP devices connecting to Webex Platform
Product Family:

Cisco MPP 6800/7800/8800 Series

Details:

In April 2022, a platform enhancement was released that allowed the Webex Calling registered MPP devices to onboard and connect with the Webex Platform and enabled a few Serviceability requests (Reboot and Report Problem). This Webex Onboarding feature was the first step in providing additional Webex features to these MPP devices. These Webex features include Webex Unified Call History, Webex Directory Search and Webex Meetings including One Button to Join notifications.

As part of the feature deployment, we’ve noticed a significant number of devices that are not onboarding with the Webex Platform. These devices are not onboarding due to one of the following issues:

  1. The required domains that is used by the MPP device to communicate with the Webex Platform are blocked by the end-customer's firewall.

  2. End-users have not activated their Webex User account. The Webex platform sends an activation email to the email address entered for the Webex User.

To enhance the capabilities of the MPP devices, we ask that customers ensure that these errors are resolved within their organization.

For issue 1

The required domains are documented in the IP Subnets for Webex Calling Services table as shown in the Webex Calling Port Reference Guide.

For issue 2

Administrators can see the number of users who are not verified within their organization in the Onboarding section of the Control Hub overview page. .

See the Bulk Send Activation Emails in Control Hub article for instructions on how to resend the activation email to users, if they are not verified. The following email is sent to the user’s email account:

Ensure that users complete the process by selecting the Activate button in the email to activate their Webex User account.

What’s Changing:

A new Firmware Server is added to the Webex Calling infrastructure to provide firmware downloads to devices.

Change Details:

Starting on October 16, 2022, few Cisco devices that are connected to the Webex Calling platform are pointed to https://binaries.webex.com to retrieve their firmware updates. Over time, all devices will transition to this URL. These are AWS servers with rotating IP Addresses so the URL resolution must be accepted.

The firmware download path change is applied to devices through their Webex Calling configuration which is automatic downloaded by devices during their normal nightly maintenance window.

Customers are encouraged to review the updated Webex Calling Port Reference Information prior to October 16, 2022 to modify the firewall rules at each location where Webex Calling devices are deployed.
