Information:The Webex Calling CPE Engineering Team will stage the new Polycom UCS 6.4.5 Firmware for device downloads.
Affected Models:Polycom VVX 101/150/201/250/301/311/350/401/411/450/501/601
What’s Changing:Polycom UCS 6.4.5 Firmware – Upgrade
New Features:Firmware Upgrade from 6.4.3 -> 6.4.5

Resolved bugs:

  • VOICE-73294 A VVX 450 phone with a VVX EM50 expansion module encounters a race condition when a user presses the BLF key too quickly after transferring a call. This results in the original call no longer being accessible using the line key

  • VOICE-73511 As of this release, UC Software doesn’t support the E-Tugra Certification Authority.

  • VOICE-73791/VOICE-73792 On VVX phones, the Send, Receive, and Subscribe drop-down menus do not display in the Group Paging Configuration and PTT Mode Configuration sections of the system web interface

  • VOICE-73790/VOICE-73830/VOICE-74430/VOICE-74157 The June 2022 hardware revisions of VVX 250, 350, and 450 phones display the Dialing screen overlaid the Lines screen when OffHookLineView.enabled="1" and when the handset is picked up or when a call transfer is initiated.

  • VOICE-73820/VOICE-73821 VVX phones can’t maintain a connection to the Poly Lens Cloud.

  • VOICE-73835 On VVX phones, a “Searching…” message displays when the LDAP server becomes unresponsive during an LDAP query.

  • VOICE-73864 Poly Lens reports a phone as offline when it is powered on and otherwise working as expected.

  • VOICE-74169 A phone with the BroadSoft Executive-Assistant feature sends an INVITE to transfer a call before the current call is placed on hold, which causes the call be rejected.

  • VOICE-74192 VVX 501 phones do not appear online in Poly Lens due to a Poly Lens system failure.

  • VOICE-74274/VOICE-74264 Disabling the serial port of a VVX phone increases the phone’s reboot time.

  • VOICE-74281 VVX phones drop the call when SIP MESSAGE requests are received in the signaling for the call.

  • VOICE-74302 The June 2022 hardware revision of VVX 350 and 450 phones fail to auto-negotiate port speed and duplex with certain switches. This change allows the phones to accommodate for irregularities on the network by negotiating a lower speed.

  • VOICE-74374 When a VVX phone connects to a Polycom Device Management System Server Provider (PDMSSP), the phone does not appear online on the PDMS-SP platform.

  • VOICE-74392 The phone’s system web interface does not display properly when it is accessed using the latest version of Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome browsers.

  • VOICE-74565 On a VVX phone, changing registration settings causes the phone to delay all future failback registration requests for a few seconds.

  • VOICE-74493 On a VVX phone, Microsoft Teams accounts with extensions fail to register.

  • VOICE-74535 The Poly Lens restart timeout is inconsistent.

  • VOICE-74663 The headset LED on the June 2022 hardware revision VVX 250, 350 and 450 phones do not flash while the phone is in Headset Memory Mode.

  • VOICE-74484 VVX phones go offline as a result of not sending a Register request after a failover event.

  • VOICE-74637 The June 2022 hardware revision VVX 250, 350, 450 phones send “auto pair” broadcast packets out the LAN port to the PC Audio Connector application instead of the PC port. This causes the PC Audio Connector to be paired with an unintended phone.

End User RequirementsWebex Calling SP & VAR - End Users must resync or manually reboot their Polycom VVX models to apply the configuration changes.

Cisco MPP Dial Plan update to accommodate additional National dialing use cases

Affected Models:

Cisco MPP 6800, 7800, and 8800 Series, Cisco 8875

What’s Changing:

MPP Dial Plan change:

Currently for countries with a fixed number of digits in their national dial plan, when an MPP phone goes off the hook and dials the fixed number of digits, the number is dialed out immediately. To accommodate cases where customers have local gateways using routing logic, the national dial plans are being relaxed to not dial out immediately after a fixed number of digits is dialed.

Example provided below for a country with fixed 8 digit national dial plan length.

Current - [2-9]xxxxxxxS0 – Phone matches on eight digit string starting with 2–9 and then sends call immediately after the 8th digit

New - [2-9]xxxxxxx. – Phone matches on eight digit string starting with 2–9 and then sends the call after the 8th digit followed by the inter digit timeout value (5 secs).

Upgrade Details:

Changes happen during the maintenance windows per region. Phones automatically pick up changes during their nightly resync.

Enable pagination feature on supported Poly VVX models

Affected Models:

Poly VVX 250, 301, 311, 350, 401, 411, 450, 501, 601

What’s Changing:

The VVX pagination feature will be enabled on supported Poly VVX models for Webex Calling SP / VAR.

Change Details:

Polycom UC Software now supports line views on multiple pages when no expansion module is connected to a supported VVX phone.

Customers can now access 4X number of lines (favorites, BLF Contacts, registration lines, presence contacts, EFK’s, and so on) compared to earlier releases without adding any extra hardware. Customer can navigate to a maximum of four pages when using this feature. When using page navigation, the page indicator and the corresponding LED line key highlight for an incoming call, and the phone performs the following actions:

If the phone receives multiple calls or notifications, the page indicator highlights the pages in a sequential order from the first page. The precedence order for the page indicator is 1, 2, 3, and 4.

If you are on the page with an active call, the LED for the line blinks. If you navigate to a different page during the call, the LED used for the same line key doesn’t blink.

VVX phones don’t support pagination when they are connected with an expansion module. If the phone is connected to an expansion module during an active call, the pagination view remains on the VVX phone until the call disconnects. When the phone is connected with an expansion module outside of an active call, the phone immediately removes the pagination view.

When the Pagination feature is enabled on the VVX phone and the phone is idle, the VVX phone reboots when an expansion module is either connected or disconnected.

Customer can navigate through pages on the line screen on supported VVX phones. A page indicator icon displays with four navigational pages at the top of the screen, and the phone highlights the first page by default.

Do one of the following to navigate:

  • On VVX 501 and 601 phones, press the Next soft key. The page indicator icon displays on the screen.

  • On VVX 250, 350, 401, 411, and 450 phones, press the navigation keys. The page indicator icon displays on the screen.

  • On VVX 301 and 311 phones, press the navigation keys. The page indicator icon displays on the screen.

End User Requirements:

The Pagination feature is available:

  • After the phone’s next nightly maintenance resync

  • Do a manual device reboot to use the feature immediately.

Phone LED Line Key Pattern and Dial from Call History Updates

Affected Models:

IP Phones

MPP 68xx Series 6821, 6841, 6851, 6861

MPP 78xx Series 7811, 7821, 7841, 7861

MPP 88xx Series 8811, 8841, 8845, 8851, 8861, 8865

What’s Changing:

The Phone LED Line Key pattern will be defaulted to align with the LED pattern used by Enterprise Phones.

This change only impacts new organizations or existing organization that is not using Device Settings feature. Organizations that are using Device Settings and wish to use the new LED pattern must set the LED pattern to Preset1 in Device Settings.

This update will also update the phone configuration such that the dialed number appears in the Call History rather than the Connected Identity number.

Change Details:

The detailed changes for the LED update can be found here. The Preset1 Pattern and Color column in Tables 24–31 define the changes for this update. The Default Pattern and Color column in Tables 24–31 define the current settings.

For the Call History update, the phones currently replace the Dialed Digits with the Connected Identity number when a call is transferred to another user. This removes the originally contacted user from the call history. This update changes the phone to always store the dialed user’s number in the call history.

End User Impacts:

Devices update automatically during their nightly resync window.

Change Details:

The Webex Directory Service will be the default source for searching for contacts from the phone. This directory contains all Webex users. The Webex Unified Call History will be the default source for viewing a user’s call history. This call history contains calls made from all phones, Webex Video Devices or Webex App.

Webex Unified Call History is not supported for workspaces. To enable call history on the workspace device, administrators must use the Device Settings feature and set the Call History parameter toLocal Call History for the device.

Service Platforms:Webex Calling
Markets:All Webex Calling Regions
Announcement Date:August 1, 2022
Information:Issues with MPP devices connecting to Webex Platform
Product Family:

Cisco MPP 6800/7800/8800 Series

Details:

In April 2022, a platform enhancement was released that allowed the Webex Calling registered MPP devices to onboard and connect with the Webex Platform and enabled a few Serviceability requests (Reboot and Report Problem). This Webex Onboarding feature was the first step in providing additional Webex features to these MPP devices. These Webex features include Webex Unified Call History, Webex Directory Search and Webex Meetings including One Button to Join notifications.

As part of the feature deployment, we’ve noticed a significant number of devices that are not onboarding with the Webex Platform. These devices are not onboarding due to one of the following issues:

  1. The required domains that is used by the MPP device to communicate with the Webex Platform are blocked by the end-customer's firewall.

  2. End-users have not activated their Webex User account. The Webex platform sends an activation email to the email address entered for the Webex User.

To enhance the capabilities of the MPP devices, we ask that customers ensure that these errors are resolved within their organization.

For issue 1

The required domains are documented in the IP Subnets for Webex Calling Services table as shown in the Webex Calling Port Reference Guide.

For issue 2

Administrators can see the number of users who are not verified within their organization in the Onboarding section of the Control Hub overview page. .

See the Bulk Send Activation Emails in Control Hub article for instructions on how to resend the activation email to users, if they are not verified. The following email is sent to the user’s email account:

Ensure that users complete the process by selecting the Activate button in the email to activate their Webex User account.

What’s Changing:

A new Firmware Server is added to the Webex Calling infrastructure to provide firmware downloads to devices.

Change Details:

Starting on October 16, 2022, few Cisco devices that are connected to the Webex Calling platform are pointed to https://binaries.webex.com to retrieve their firmware updates. Over time, all devices will transition to this URL. These are AWS servers with rotating IP Addresses so the URL resolution must be accepted.

The firmware download path change is applied to devices through their Webex Calling configuration which is automatic downloaded by devices during their normal nightly maintenance window.

Customers are encouraged to review the updated Webex Calling Port Reference Information prior to October 16, 2022 to modify the firewall rules at each location where Webex Calling devices are deployed.

Customer Device Managers:

Review the Webex Calling Port Information for updated information regarding the binaries.webex.com port requirements.

Customer Device Managers should add firewall access rules for all Webex Calling devices listed so that they can reach the new firmware distribution server – https://binaries.webex.com
