Learn how to hold and resume calls on your Cisco Wireless Phone 9821. This Help article is for Cisco Wireless Phone 9821 registered to Webex Calling.

Put a call on hold

You can put an active call on hold and then resume it when you're ready. When you are on a call and receive an incoming call, answering the call automatically puts the active call on hold. In this situation, you can swap between the active and held calls.

1

Access the Phone 9821 Phone app icon app.

2

Select an active call.

3

Press Hold to put this active call on hold.

If your administrator configures the Music on Hold feature on the phone, the held call plays music deployed in the calling system.

What to do next

To resume a held call, press Resume.

Swap between active and held calls

When you are on a call, you can access a call that is on hold. Once swapped, the phone places the original call on hold.

1

Access the Phone 9821 Phone app icon app.

2

Select a call that is on hold.

3

Press Resume.

Configure hold reminder

You can configure Cisco Wireless Phone 9821 to send you a notification when a call is left on hold for a long time. Similar to an incoming call notification, the hold reminder is a single ring repeating at intervals.

1

Access the phone administration web page.

2

Click Voice > User.

3

In the Hold Reminder section, set hold reminder timer and then select a ringtone as required.

4

Click Submit All Changes.

A reboot clears your hold reminder configuration and switches to default settings. If you register a phone to Webex Calling, the phone downloads the configuration from Control Hub every time a reboot is performed.

What to do next

When you hear the hold reminder, press Answer to resume the held call.
