What is the sequence in which Webex attempts to connect to the VoIP servers?
Webex attempts to connect to the VoIP servers in the following order:
- UDP packets over port 9000.
- TCP packets over port 9000.
- TCP packets over port 443 (SSL).
- TCP packets over port 5004
- UDP connections are preferred over TCP connections.
- On a network with problematic connectivity, using TCP packets will result in audio dropouts.
Webex Business Suite (WBS) 31 and later
Webex is using the Internet-standard Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) packets, replacing Webex's proprietary protocol used in previous WBS versions. RTP is a network protocol used for delivering audio and video over IP networks. RTP is used extensively in communication and entertainment systems that involve streaming media, such as telephony, video teleconference applications, television services and web-based push-to-talk features.
Note: Webex VoIP will not work if RTP packets are blocked in your network.
