Internet Telephony Numbers for Webex Calling in India

In India, Department of Telecom (DOT) assigns special numbers known as Internet Telephony Numbers (ITN) to PSTN providers. Organizations with ITNs can access Webex Calling services through the Internet. Additionally, Webex Calling users in India who are assigned with these ITNs are exempted from toll bypass regulations as long as they remain within the country. For more information, see Internet Telephony Numbers for Webex Calling in India.

Benefits

Using ITNs for Webex Calling provides the following benefits:

  • Eliminate infrastructure costs—Avoid the expenses associated with MPLS, private networks or lease lines for connecting your organization's locations to Webex.

  • Enjoy unrestricted calling—Make and receive PSTN calls from anywhere in India without worrying about toll bypass restrictions.

Internet Telephony Numbers and zone configuration

If an organization uses only Internet Telephony Numbers at a Webex Calling location, the administrator is still required to configure the Zone and Trusted Network Edge settings for that location. The Zone and Trusted Network Edge setting should remain blank, without any specified IP addresses or subnets. If any IP address is configured in the Zone and Trusted Network Edge, it is ignored while applying toll bypass policies.

Administrators can add Internet Telephony Numbers in the Control Hub, and assign them to users, workspaces, devices, virtual lines, and features.

To add Internet Telephony Numbers in the Control Hub, see Manage phone numbers in Control Hub.

To assign Internet Telephony Number to a user or a workspace, see Assign phone number to a user or a workspace.

To assign Internet Telephony Number to a virtual line, see Multi line support in Webex Calling using virtual lines.
