Customer Context Gadget: Create New Customer Record

You can use the Customer Context gadget to create a new customer record. Create a new customer record when:

  • A customer contacts your organization for the first time. If the customer is new and their name, email, or phone number is available then their information is automatically populated in the customer information form. A new customer with no identifiable information available is displayed as Unknown Customer.

  • The incoming call, chat, or email is not associated with a customer. Manually create a new customer record to associate the activity with a customer.


Create New Customer Record

When a customer contacts your organization for the first time, they are added to the open list and displayed in the Customer Context gadget. However, new customer information is not saved until you click Create in the customer information form. Create a new customer record using the customer information form when a customer contacts your organization for the first time.

  1. Click the customer name to open the customer information form.

      

    If the customer name is not available, the Customer Context gadget displays the customer email, or if neither are available the phone number. If no identifiable information is available, the gadget displays the customer as Unknown Customer.

  2. Verify that any automatically populated information in the customer information form is correct.

  3. Enter relevant customer information and click Create in the customer information form. To exit without creating a new customer, click Close and then click Discard.


Manually Create New Customer Record

You can manually create a new customer if the incoming call, chat, or email is not associated with a customer.

  1. Click Create in the customer management pane. The customer information form opens.

      

    If the customer management pane is not visible, click the icon.

  2. Enter relevant customer information in the customer information form. Fields in the Customer Context gadget have a 2,000 character limit.

  3. Click Create in the customer information form. After you create a new customer, the customer is associated with the current activity.

    To exit without creating a new customer, click Cancel.
