Using Service Numbers
Webex Calling currently has a singular number type for both end users and site services although the call volumes between the two are different. Therefore, using a service number you can handle hundreds of calls simultaneously unlike standard phone numbers.
To order a service number, consider these pointers:
-
If the carriers offer Service Number as a PSTN number for a location, then you can order the Service numbers.
-
If you use a premise-based PSTN or Non-Integrated Cloud Calling Plan with a paid subscription, then you can order Service Numbers.
-
You can change all unassigned numbers in a location that aren’t mobile or toll-free numbers from Standard to Service Number.
-
You can only assign Service Numbers to site services like Auto Attendant, Call Queue, and Contact Center.
-
You can use Service Numbers as a main number for a Webex location and use it as a caller ID for a user or a workspace.
To order service numbers, follow these steps:
1 |
From the Control Hub, go to Calling and click Numbers > Add Numbers. |
2 |
Choose a Location and Number Type. Click Next. |
3 |
Choose Service Numbers on the Add numbers page. Enter the number that you wish to order, then click Next.
The order is submitted successfully. |
To modify an existing Standard number to a Service Number, follow these steps:
-
From the Control Hub, go to Calling and click Numbers
-
Select the number that you wish to change using the Actions drop down. Choose Modify from the drop-down. The Modify numbers window displays that you’re modifying the number type from Standard to Service number. Click Save.
- On the Numbers window, you now observe the Service Number indication against the number.
The Numbers page on Control Hub has a Service Numbers filter. The Numbers page displays the count of Service Numbers allocated and a Service Number indication against the relevant number.
If there’s a mix of service and toll-free numbers when selecting the Service number option, the toll free numbers are added as toll free irrespective of the selection.
Use Case 2: Add Numbers to a Non-Integrated CCP Location without Service Numbers on Carrier
If the carrier doesn’t support Service Number, then the Standard number radio button is selected by default while the Service number radio button is disabled.
