MP4 Recordings Default in Webex Meetings 40.10

In the upcoming October (40.10) update, all-new recordings in Webex Meetings will be stored in MP4 format, either in the cloud or locally as selected at the site or host level, with a video-centric experience. By standardizing the recording format, you'll have a wider choice of playback tools, better security, and a more effortless collaboration experience even after your meetings. Existing ARF and WRF recordings can still be downloaded or played at the Webex site. For more information regarding video-centric recording, go to Video-Centric Network-Based MP4 Recordings in Webex Meetings and Webex Events.

Note:

This error may occur if a Webex site is moved back to a previous lockdown version. Recordings that have been created while the site was on a newer release will not be able to be played back (streaming) using the player on the lockdown version. In these cases, the fix is to revert the site back to the newer Webex version.

Cause:

The following error occurs when playing a recording created on a newer site version than the installed Network Recording Player.

Solution:

Use one of the methods below to resolve the issue:
  • Download and install the Network Recording Player from your company's Webex site and then use the Network Recording Player to play back the downloaded recording , see:
  • If the host has provided a link to download the recording, follow the steps below:
    1. Click the link to download the recording in the email invitation.

    2. On the pop-up window that appears, click the Download ARF player link.
    3. Complete the Network Recording Player installation and play the downloaded recording.
Note: You need to revert (upgrade) the site back to the newer Webex version to fix the streaming playback functionality of the recording.
