Error: 'Setup was unsuccessful. Error [7]'.

I get an error 7 when trying to start or join a Webex meeting.

Cause:
This occurs due to security limitations on the computer or if the Webex software doesn't extract properly during installation.

Solution:

To troubleshoot the issue:
You must be logged into the computer with an Administrator account to perform the steps in this article.

Microsoft Windows

  1. Uninstall Webex Meeting Manager from the Control Panel.
  2. Download the Webex Removal Tool to your desktop.
  3. Extract the contents of the zip file to your hard drive.
  4. Double-click on the Meeting Services Removal Tool file.
    • Note: If using Windows 7, right-click on Meeting Services Removal Tool, then select Run as administrator.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  6. Download and install Cisco Webex Meetings Manager (Software).
  7. Start or join the meeting again.

Mac

  1. Uninstall Webex Software on a Mac. For help see: How Do I Uninstall Webex Meetings Software on a Mac?
  2. Start or join the meeting again.
