Unable to update the Webex Desktop App.

Error: "We can't update your Cisco Webex Meetings desktop app because we can't verify the security certificate for your Webex site. This error may occur because we can't access the digital signature site, your firewall has blocked external access to a revocation server, or there's a problem connecting to the network. Contact your administrator for assistance."

Problem Description: When trying to update the WDA via the blue update button, customer runs into error message: "We can't update your Cisco Webex Meetings desktop app because we can't verify the security certificate for your Webex site. This error may occur because we can't access the digital signature site, your firewall has blocked external access to a revocation server, or there's a problem connecting to the network. Contact your administrator for assistance."

Root Cause: Some lock-down environments may not have user access to install certificates after they expire.

Install the Intermediate Certificate:

  1. Download the intermediate certificate from: http://cacerts.digicert.com/DigiCertSHA2AssuredIDCodeSigningCA.crt
  2. Double click on the crt file to open it.
  3. Click the Install Certificate... button to open the Certificate Import Wizard window.
  4. Select Local Machine as the Store Location and then click Next. Approve the UAC dialog when it pop up.
  5. Select Place all certificates in the following store and use Intermediate Certificate Authorities as the certificate store, then click OK.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Click the Finish button.

Install the Root Certificate:
  1. Download the intermediate certificate from: http://cacerts.digicert.com/DigiCertAssuredIDRootCA.crt
  2. Double click on the crt file to open it.
  3. Click the Install Certificate... button to open the Certificate Import Wizard window.
  4. Select Local Machine as the Store Location and then click Next. Approve the UAC dialog when it pop up.
  5. Select Place all certificates in the following store and use Trusted Root Certificate Authorities as the certificate store, then click OK.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Click the Finish button.
Install the DigiCert Trusted Root G4:
  1. Download the  DigiCert Trusted Root G4 from : https://knowledge.digicert.com/content/dam/digicertknowledgebase/DigiCertTrustedRootG4.crt
  2. Double click on the crt file to open it.
  3. Click the Install Certificate... button to open the Certificate Import Wizard window.
  4. Select Local Machine as the Store Location and then click Next. Approve the UAC dialog when it pop up.
  5. Select Place all certificates in the following store and use Trusted Root Certificate Authorities as the certificate store, then click OK.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Click the Finish button.
