ISSUE
Users attempting to start or join a Webex meeting using the Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 10 may encounter the following error message: Setup was Unsuccessful. Please try again. Error [23].
RESOLUTION
Workaround 1
Join the Meeting Using the Temporary Application Method
- Navigate to the Webex meeting invitation email or calendar appointment.
- Click on the meeting link provided.
- When prompted, select the option to join the meeting using the temporary application.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to download and run the temporary application.
- Enter the meeting.
Use an Alternative Browser
- Open Mozilla Firefox (32-bit version) or Google Chrome on your Windows 10 device.
- Navigate to the Webex meeting invitation email or calendar appointment.
- Click on the meeting link provided in the invitation.
- The Webex service should initiate the setup process using the browser's compatible method (without relying on Active-X).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to start or join the Webex meeting.
- Microsoft Edge, introduced with Windows 10 on July 29, 2015, does not support Active-X controls, which some Webex services require to start or join a meeting.
- The Webex meeting setup process relies on Active-X for specific versions, which is incompatible with Microsoft Edge.
- Users should use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome for the best meeting experience.
- If you continue to experience issues, check for browser updates or Webex service updates that may address compatibility issues.
