Error: 'General Error Occurred in File Operation' When Trying to Playback Network-Based Recordings (NBR) File

 

ISSUE
Users encounter a 'General error occurred in file operation' error message when attempting to playback Network-Based Recordings (NBR) files in Webex Meetings 40.10. This error prevents users from accessing recorded meetings, impacting their ability to review crucial content.


RESOLUTION
To resolve the issue:

  1. Uninstall the Cisco Webex Network Recording Player, see:
Note: If the Vulkano Player is installed on your computer, uninstall the program.

If the issue persists after the additional steps, contact Webex Technical Support.

CAUSE
The root cause of this issue lies in the compatibility between the new MP4 recording format introduced in Webex Meetings 40.10 and the Cisco Webex Network Recording Player used for playback of existing ARF and WRF format recordings. The transition to MP4 format for new recordings has resulted in conflicts or errors when accessing older NBR files.
