Overview

You can now move call recordings from BroadCloud to Webex Calling. This keeps your existing Dubber accounts and all your old recordings accessible without losing current access to the Dubber platform during migration. The steps needed before, during, and after the move, is detailed depending on whether you stay in the same region or moving to a new one. Remember, there is no easy way to undo the migration once it is complete.

The Dubber migration is applicable to BroadCloud migrations only.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, please make sure the following steps are completed:

  1. Reparenting request (Same region):

Admins migrating the customers from BroadCloud to Webex Calling must reparent the Dubber Group ID.

This step is optional for customers migrating from BroadCloud US to Webex Calling CA.

  2. Dubber Group ID configuration:

In the Service Provider portal in Rialto, navigate to Profile → Set Up Call Recording and verify whether the Dubber Group ID is present. Partners using Dubber as the call recording platform in BroadCloud should already have this value populated.

  3. Call recording activation:

Enable call recording in BroadCloud for any users who have it active in Dubber but disabled in Rialto. Complete this before the extract.

Migration process overview

Transform tool

The Transform tool includes a property in its partner.cfg file, DEFAULT_CALL_RECORDING_VENDOR=Dubber.

To set Dubber as the default call recording vendor for all BroadCloud migrations, uncomment and set this property.

Webex Calling does not support the On Demand recording option from BroadCloud. Call recording settings will not migrate and will appear in the exception report.

Provisioning tool

Run the Provisioning Tool in two phases:

Phase 1: Provisioning phase

During the provisioning phase, the tool will:

  • Sets Dubber as the call recording vendor in Webex Calling if not already set.
  • Migrates call recording settings only for users and virtual lines.

This feature is not supported for workspaces.

  • Create a new Dubber user accounts in Webex Calling with Dubber Go license.

After provisioning, a new Webex Calling dub point is created with no email ID associated. BroadCloud Dubber dub points and call recording will continue to work.

  • After the provisioning phase, you cannot make further changes to Dubber accounts or create new Dubber administrators.
  • Administrators can continue to access and use call recordings in BroadCloud until they initiate migration in the SP Portal.
  • Once the migration is initiated, call recording functionality moves from BroadCloud to Webex Calling.
  • When a user enables call recording for the first time in BroadCloud after provisioning, no DubPoint is created in BroadCloud even if the call recording is enabled.

Phase 2: Post-Migration phase

After migration, if you do not plan to revert to BroadCloud, rerun the provisioning tool with the -dubberpostmigration argument to complete post-migration tasks.

(optional) To keep your BroadCloud Dubber license, set ALLOW_ADMIN_TO_USE_EXISTING_DUBBER_LICENSE=true in the partner.cfg file, before running the post-migration phase.

  • During provisioning, do not uncomment the property ALLOW_ADMIN_TO_USE_EXISTING_DUBBER_LICENSE.
  • After post-migration, BroadCloud call recordings will not work, and BroadCloud DubPoints will be in a suspended state.

Currently, only the Dubber Call Recording Platform is supported as the default call recording vendor for migrations. Support for additional vendors will be introduced in future updates.

Email notification

  • For different regions migrations (e.g., from US to CA):

The email to set up Dubber user credentials in Webex Calling is sent after provisioning.

  • For same region migrations (e.g., from US to US):

The email is sent after post migration of Dubber.

Access to old call recordings

  • For different regions migrations:
    1. Users must continue to log in to the BroadCloud Dubber platform using their existing credentials to access old call recordings.
    2. Users can access these recordings only if their credentials were previously configured in BroadCloud.
    3. The process remains unchanged, and recordings are available according to the Dubber licenses purchased by the partner.
  • For same region migrations:
    1. Users and Dubber administrators can log in to the new Dubber account using the new credentials.
    2. You can access both their old and new call recordings from the new account.

Known limitations

  1. Customer organization deletion: Deleting a customer organization in Webex does not automatically remove its users from Dubber.
  2. Same region migration: If you convert users to Virtual Lines during same-region migration, they remain in Dubber. Cisco Engineering or Dubber must remove them manually.

  3. Different region migration: After migration, users from the previous organization stay in Dubber. The Dubber team must manually remove them to prevent email conflicts when enabling call recording in the new organization.
